You'll take the same photos with an SL camera as you would with camera X, it'll just cost a fair bit more to do it. But I'll warn you that you may be placing a lot of expectation on a brand name. If you need to experience owning a Leica then there's going to be no stopping you. However, you post suggests that is not the case. If money is no object then I say have at it. You're really paying a price for the camera to say Leica on it. Obviously it's a serviceable camera but Leica's digital tech is not bleeding edge. It's an actual digital rangefinder with a mount that opens near limitless possibilities for lenses spanning nearly a century. With the Leica M system you're buying into something that can only be simulated by other brands and systems. What will it do that the current mirrorless offerings from Canon, Nikon and Sony can't do? I'm leading here a bit but that's intentional. I'd ask what it is about the SL2-S that makes that the camera you want. People are only going to be able to tell you what was right for them and that's not the same as what is right for you. I have a tendency towards overthinking and analysis paralysis. I probably spend more time taking nature pics in area parks. I love street photography, but I don't exactly live in a bustling town. I don't have a particular "type" of photography that I lean more towards. The plan would PROBABLY be to eventually buy an M to L adapter and some M glass, almost definitely starting with a 50mm Summicron-M (Not the APO) and maybe, further down the line, get an M10 or M11 or whatever is around at that point.Īm I going to hate having the Sigma on there rather than the Leica? Or would* be better served just scaling back and getting a Q2? Sl2-S with the Leica 24-70 2.8 lens is doable, BUT, I could save myself about 1100-ish dollars if I get it with the Sigma 24-70 2.8 Art lense instead. I could go with a Q2, but I'm not sold on the idea of only the one fixed lense.
